Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the RefactorBI website (refactorbi.com) or the RefactorBI open developer tools. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. General Information & Legal Notice

RefactorBI is an independent developer initiative provided as a free software utility for the Power BI, Fabric, and data engineering community. It is currently provided free of charge for individual developers, consultants, and internal teams.

2. Free Software License & Community Use

The RefactorBI Community Edition is made available free of charge for both personal, research, and professional consulting workflows. You are permitted to use RefactorBI to inspect models, perform architectural health checks, generate documentation, and prepare migration specifications for your projects and client deliverables.

3. Disclaimer of Warranties

RefactorBI is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

While RefactorBI applies deterministic rules and Tabular Best Practice Analyzer principles, you remain solely responsible for reviewing and validating any generated scripts, DAX modifications, or write-back files prior to executing them on production models.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall RefactorBI, its maintainers, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages (including damages for loss of business, data loss, model corruption, or operational interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the software.

5. Third-Party Trademarks & Independence

Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and DAX are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and other countries. RefactorBI is an independent utility and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Microsoft Corporation.

Claude is a trademark of Anthropic PBC. OpenAI is a trademark of OpenAI, LLC.

6. Local Execution & Data Ownership

You retain 100% ownership of your semantic models, DAX measures, and business data. RefactorBI parses files locally in volatile memory and does not claim any intellectual property rights or ownership over your models, schemas, or generated documentation.

7. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted to this page with an updated revision date.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and applicable local regulations, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
